Giant Shabby Vintage Tag

I've got a new tag to share today created with the Scraps of Elegance August Kit "By the Sea"

This tag is one of the Ranger measuring about 5 1/4 x 10 1/4. It is a nice big surface that will hold a lot of media and layering! 

I used Blue Fern Seaside Cottage as my base layer then added the "Notes From The Sea" cut out from the French Riviera collection. 

I have an affinity for these vintage images especially on tags and altered items. This one is Lucy by Kristin Hubick for RetroCafeArt. I like to buy my images unless I can be sure they are copyright free. I never use any from pinterest unless they come from a copyright free source.  

The layers are stitched on a sewing machine. I used the beautiful chipboard piece from Blue Fern Studios called the "Seashell Frame". This was found in the Elements Add On you can find it here. 

I covered the chipboard in a layer of gesso then I used some crackle mediums on it. I think I applied it improperly though or was too impatient. I ended up without much in the way of crackles but lots of lumpy texture. It's ok because then I painted it with Art Alchemy in Opal Magic Pink Blue. Then I random stamped it and embossed it with Blue Fern embossing powder in Coral. The embossing powder was in the Color Add On found here.

 I embossed the starfish with a combination of encrusted jewels and blue fern embossing powders.

We received some beautiful shells in our kit and I painted the once again with with Art Alchemy paint. I used some mica flakes mixed with glitter to spread in the background. 

We always get a great selection of florals in the add on here. I usually pile the flowers on. I can't help myself. Then I finish off the bottom with book page fringe!

A new tag featuring Tales of You and Me.....

I layered the Tales Of You and Me pattern paper amid florals, chipboard and ephemera...

My latest obsession as you have seen is adding book page rosette flowers that I make with a Tim Holtz Die and book page fringe just made with fringe scissors...

The cute little chipboard girl from the Tales of You and Me Chipboard pack and the cute wood butterfly from The Archivist Wood Icons make a great pair!

Shabby details in the zig zag machine stitching, seam ribbon bow and beautiful Memory Hardware Trims tucked in. I've used the Monpazier Gilded Trim and the Cours Mirabeau Floral Lace...

Topping each book page rosette off with the little numbers from the Tales of You and Me Ephermera Pack. I've thrown in some Victorian Christmas Florals as well. Love how you can mix so many collections together with Franks products!

Mermaid Tag Frank Garcia Design Team

Hey Gang! I'm adoring Julie Nutting's stamps and what better way to use the Sea Sally Mermaid Stamp than with Frank Garcia's French Riviera collection. I created an oversized tag using Rangers Giant Tag it measures about 5 x 10 inches. I covered the background of the tag in Respirer l'air de Lamer pattern paper from the French Riviera collection. I then used the opposite side to create a large rosette. I showed you how I do these in a video of another tag I created - you can find it here.

The edges of the tag have been stamped with Primas stitch stamp. I used plain seam binding and dyed it myself with Glistening Waves Bloom Spray. Beneath the mermaid is Journees DeReves et Aventures torn and just slightly peeking out to add that hint of blue. I used this pattern paper to create the mermaid. I used the stamp on some book pages as my base. 

I then used several small circle punches to create a paper mosaic. This mosaic creates scales on her body and fins. I also used tiny circle punches to create the texture and dimension on her hair.

I used book pages to create my own fringe. If you guys have been following me you know this my new "thing." The Petite Rosette trim was sprayed with the Glistening Waves as well. I cut up the gold Rocquencourt Doily Lace and tucked it in.  Little bits of seed beads and sequins were added for interest on her fins and top. 

I used some Dusty Attic sprayed with Prima Sprays along with cheesecloth to give this a little sea side touch.

I'm involved in a swap at the Scraps of Darkness/Elegance community and this month is a doll tag swap. This beauty goes to my partner Niki Hackler- Maughan. Hope she likes it. :)

Tales of You And Me Tag Frank Garcia Design Team/ Prima

If you have not had a chance to see the newest lines by Frank Garcia then you are in for a treat today with my vintage style tag created with Tales of You and Me. Not only do I have a gorgeous tag to share with gorgeous products but I've created a step by step video (below) so you can watch me put this together. Yay!

Tales of You and Me is the new release from Prima featured in the winter CHA.

I created this tag with a base of Tales of You and Me. I added a vintage image and used some book pages for the fringe and die cut.

                      

This close up shows the details on tag. I made a tassel to hang off the ribbon with the Villeneuve Antique Rings and the Cote D'Azur Antique Chain.

The gold floral are pieces I cut from the Mirabeau Floral Lace.

... And I added a little piece of the Monpazier Gilded Trim to her crown.

One of my favorite tags to date. :)

Vintage Style Tags - Scraps of Darkness

I'm always sharing projects created with the Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance kits but did you know we have an on line store as well? YES! A place where you can grab tons of beautiful art mediums if purchasing kits is not your thing! I'm sharing two tags today featuring goodies from the store.

For each of my tags I used a base of pattern papers found in the Scraps of Darkness January Kit "Beloved". Melinda included a beautiful Santoro Art Paper Pad. I've really fallen in love with this manufacturer! Very artistic and textural designs. Although this kit is sold out there are many Santoro supplies in the store ---- HERE

The feature of my tag is the beautiful Evita Elsa Butterflies from Prima - You can find them -HERE

I always layer a ton even on small spaces like tags. I've used some metal embellishments from Prima  painted them with Silks in Wisteria and Art Anthology in Bronze. I then embossed them with gorgeous Encrusted Jewels In Gold. You can find these embossing powders in the store ---- HERE. They are my favorite!

Beneath the layers of metal and butterflies I added some  Prima Floral Lace Trim - Magnolia also found in the store ---- HERE

I've really been into fringe lately. Book pages and crepe paper and streamers oh my! I created the fringe on both my tags from black crepe streamers.

Mixed in with my beautifully embossed metal leaves I added some gorgeous Glass Glitter in Violet. I brushed on some Gel Medium and then sprinkled the glitter. You can find the Glass Glitter --- HERE

I also used the most gorgeous Blue Fern Studios Checker Bits found ----- HERE---- in the store.

I painted it in a black gesso found in the store ----- HERE and then embossed it with the Encrusted Jewels in Gold.

Although you can't see it as well in the photos I did a ton of stamping with the Cartographer Stamp by Prima and lucky you we have some of them in the store ------ HERE

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope everyone has recovered from the holiday hustle and bustle and your new year brings you peace, joy and good health!

It seems like forever since I have posted a project! So today I have a quick post with two tags I created with left over bits from previous Scraps of Darkness and Elegance Kits. 

Our kits include so many beautiful goodies that you can build your stash up and draw from that to create future projects! We have a fully stocked on line store so there is no need to get a kit if it's not your thing simply shop for what you need to create the latest and greatest mixed media project.

In honor of Valentines Day I created these tags with that theme in mind. :)

This tag was created with a combination of Prima and BoBunny. The background paper is BoBunny Juliet. I used a beautiful Prima doily die which I recently purchased. I was so excited to finally get one of these! 

I've added some florals from my stash and layered them with a chipboard butterfly painted, embossed and adorned with micro beads.

A little lacy ruffle tucked in with some cotton string...

I love adding tiny details in my projects to make them special... machine stitching, a little gold bold with a jewel dangle and a stickpin.

My second tag was created using BoBunny and Prima- papers, florals, lace...

I used a gorgeous vine and tucked in some florals from my stash. The chipboard bird is a BoBunny one. I love the pin with the jewel heart...

I've used a cute little wood title...

Just a little shabby touch with the cheese cloth and lace...

Tags created with the November Kit Amys Amazing Autumn Kit

Today I have two tags to share created with the gorgeous November Kit "Amys Amazing Autumn" featuring  the BoBunny Enchanted Harvest Collection.

This collection from BoBunny has a great fall feel with the beautiful pumpkin and green tones yet it has a vintage flair to it that I really love! I used the "Fall" pattern paper and cut out the beautiful vintage images as my jumping off point for my tags. The background is layered with various papers from this collection included in the main kit.

I used some crackle paste in the background thinking it would add an old world feel to the tag.

Once it dried I painted over it with the Cinnamon Brown Silks found in the Color Add On ---- HERE

I also went over it with some Gold Lumiere. I cannot complete a project without using that. I'm addicted! Splatters in the background were created with Lumiere in Pearl Emerald found in our Creativity Add On ---- HERE

The frame surrounding the photo is one by Heartfelt Creations. Sweet details include the chipboard butterfly found in the Elements Add On--- HERE   The butterfly is part of the BoBunny Enchanted Harvest Collection- Chipboard.  I also added in some Dusty Attic - those cute little vines you see peeking out painted with Lumiere and then dusted with some BoBunny Glitter Paste.

I used a hand dyed seam binding bow and sewed on the key. These are Prima Metal Patina Trinkets found in the Elements Add On --- HERE

You can see the detailing of the micro beads. I scattered those all over the tag.

The florals are Prima Timeless Memories Retrospect and Marion Smith Time Keeper. Those leaves are divine- they have a velvet feel to them and are Petaloo Botanica Fall Leaves. You get all these and MORE in out Floral Add On----- HERE

The back of the tag is stained with Distress Inks. We received the Ground Expresso in the Color Add On --- HERE  and Forest Moss in the Main Kit --- HERE  

I used them both and some Marmalade which I had on hand - then just a little random stamping for good measure!

I used the same techniques on this tag. Beneath that vintage image is a die cut from Spellbinders and then I painted a chipboard frame and used a layer of crackle over it.

More florals and I mixed in some Hemp Cord found in the Main Kit. We received a pack of Crafters Hemp Cord in Harvest. I unravel it so it is not a thick stand. I pull it apart then tuck it in between the flowers.

I used a few florals from an previous Scraps of Darkness Kit. Those are the tiny ones you see tucked beneath the Prima ones. 

I finished off the back side of the tag the same way. I love the vintage grungy feel it lends.

Garden Journal Tag

Hello Friends- 

Today I a quick share- a tag I created with the beautiful BoBunny Garden Journal Collection. 

I've been into using my "deckle" scissors lately. Remember those? The fancy edges on the different scissors that we put aside. I love the edges and they are fun to use especially on tags.

I layered some of the beautiful pattern papers with a few die cuts then added chipboard and florals.

A sweet little birds nest with tiny blue eggs from Prima.

I coated some chipboard in gesso, stamped and embossed with a Lindys embossing powder.

I also added splatters with Lumiere Paints.

Gilded Lily Tag using Scraps of Elegance Lisa's Sweet September Kit

Just popping in for a quick share today. I've created another very shabby and heavily embellished tag using the gorgeous Graphic 45 Gilded Lily collection featured in our September Kit.

The top of the tag features a gorgeous gold wired ribbon bow. I used layered of the Gilded Lily papers and fussy cut some lilies. The are all tucked in snug as a bug. Lots of inking along the edges of everything and I did do random stamping because clean doesn't work for me anymore. :)

You cans the beautiful Prima florals in various shades of peach and chocolate.

Of course it's not complete without a little splatter of gold paint here and there.

The bottom is finished with a tulle fringe trim and looks like a little skirt.
