Scraps of Elegance - 1st Reveal - 3D Dress Form Canvas

Hello and Welcome to my blog!

I've got a special project to share today created with the beautiful
 Scraps of Elegance
 "Mallika's Whimsy Kit"
In case you missed this kit you can find our kits and our store ----- here

This is a gorgeous kit! One of my all time favorites and I loved working with the Prima "Primrose and Proper" papers. Melinda is so talented at putting together kits. The Prima and Blue Fern papers are so gorgeous together! She always tucks in the most gorgeous little treasures... look at that little birdhouse and those clock faces...

I used an 8 x 10 inch canvas and applied Tim Holtz Tissue Tape (from my stash)  around the edges and brought that into areas of the main canvas. I cut apart the Primrose and Proper paper and used some gel medium to adhere to the canvas. I then coated it all in clear gesso.

My background work is a combination of modeling paste with a stencil and misting with BoBunny Gold Mist and Tattered Angels Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist. (also from my stash)

3D Dress Form Canvas by Lisa Novogrodski for Scraps of Elegance Kit Club using Mallikas Whimsy Kit

I used several Prima resins on this canvas. The large frame was in a previous Scraps of Elegance kit "Lisas Love Letters" and the little bird house resin is in the current kit. I treated the larger frame with Inka Gold and the birdhouse with mists and Stampedous Embossing Powder Encrusted Jewels. My favorite!

The dress form is a half 3D style that I like to do. I use the Tim Holtz dress form die and then put it together from there. I love to tuck in little bits and pieces and a gorgeous seam binding bow.

I used Inka Gold on the dress form and some Dusty Attic Chipboard pieces also coated in Inka Gold. The florals are a combination of Kaisercraft blooms and the Prima Primrose and Proper were in our kit! Gorgeous!

I layered doilies along with the Junkyard Findings Clock Faces found in our kits and embossed with both Stampendous "Spoonful of Snow" and the "Encrusted Jewels in Purple" Both of these were items found in past kits.

You can see in the above photo the beautiful texture this embossing powder gives to the canvas.

This is a close up of the birdhouse...

A peek at the side of the canvas covered in the tissue tape.

Thanks a bunch for stopping in.

Lisa,
Your canvas is gorgeous! I love your technique with the tissue on the sides and onto the canvas front a bit - it makes for an awesome type of border. The papers you used are lovely, as are the colors. The dressform, flowers and seam binding are lovely. Can you tell I love your canvas??!! Thanks for sharing how you brought it to life.
