Tags Tags Tags

Hi Everyone! Today I am just sharing a couple of tags I created for one of my etsy customers with one of my past Scraps of Darkness Kits. If you haven't taken a peek at my shop you can find it here.

This kit was the January Style and Sophistication Kit.

Tags are one of my most favorite things to create. The more I make them the more I love them. I used Graphic 45 "Couture" here and piled on lots of gorgeous flowers and trims. I've topped it off with a beautiful shimmery bow and gold rope trip.

There is a little pocket in the front to tuck special notes or treasures inside.

I always finish off the backs of my tags. This way they can be used for multiple purposes and look good from both sides. I embossed both sides and inked over it for this effect.

A little close up of the details here.

The backside of the tag finished off.

Happy Monday Everyone! Enjoy your week!

My Guy

This is another layout I created using the beautiful Needful Things kit for March at Scraps of Darkness.
This is just a teaser with photos. I will uploading a video tutorial for our "Pandora's Box" in a couple days showing how I put this layout together in it's entirety!

I love versatility of this kit. I chose to use alot of the "b" sides of the G45 because I thought the other gals would use the more graphic images. I wanted to show how much you can do with this kit that is unique from everyone else!

Be sure to stop back again to check out the video. ;)

Scraps of Darkness Design Team Reveal!!!

It's Reveal Day again, and there is a lot going on at Scraps of Darkness! Before I get started with the reveal of our January kit  I wanted to share some news that we are really excited about.
We are expecting a new baby! No noone here is pregnant!  As far as I know---but Scraps of Darkness is going to have a new little sister
On February 1st, we will reveal a new line of kits,
 Scraps of Elegance.
These kits will be a little different from what you are used to seeing from Scraps of Darkness, and we are honored to have a very talented surprise guest designer who will be helping us to show off our first Scraps of Elegance kit. In addition to that (as if that isn't a lot!), we'll be having a blog hop to kick it all off, so set your calendar's to stop back on February 1, 2012!

And now on to the SOD reveal!

Scraps of Darkness January Design Team Reveal!!!

Introducing "Escape"
"Searching for my lost shaker of salt" ~Jimmy Buffet

Be sure to stop by the Scrap of Darkness blog today to see how you can win this months kit!!!

This months kit is like a breath of fresh air to brighten up those dull grey winter days. Beautiful Graphic 45, Pink Paislee and Authentique papers. This combined with Tim Holtz, Prima, Petaloo and our fabulous "Color Add On" are sure to bring sunshine into your life and chase away the winter blues.

My first layout is based, as always on our talented artist, Charlottes sketch for us this month.

Mermaid

I have a new passion for scrapping images that are not of my kids. My work is more about art and having fun than it is about documenting memories. This mermaid image I purchased from  A Rose Without A Thorn.

I added some sparkle and whimsy to my cut out beach lady with stickles and shells that were included in the kit. I added a piece of acrylic with stamping and embossing. It give it a really cool sea splash look. The pin is one of Mandys always in our kits. I trimmed mine down and topped off the acrylic with it.
I used a beautiful Dusty Attic Chippee on this that can be found in the Scraps of Darkness Shoppe. I misted the chipboard with Lindys Starburst Mist. We also get an awesome selection of color in the color add on. I also used alcohol inks around the edge of my page to get that water splashed look. The flowers are Heartfelt Creations Stamps.

Beach Babe

My next project is an altered canvas. I used the reverse side of a regular stretched canvas purchased at Michaels. This canvas had a wide wood frame on the back. I used my Ranger distress stains to color the wood.
Here is a close up. I cut the fish out of one of the papers and used black glitter glue and glam to make them special. The blue flowers they are floating on are Inkadoo stamps that I also used stickles on.
There is a piece of Dusty Attic Chippee covered in acrylic paint and diamond dust. The Sea horse, Starfish and Sandollar were all in the kit!

This is just a look at the back of the canvas. I used acrylic paint and distress stain on it.

Postcard

This is a fun layout I did of my husband and I. We went to Hawaii a REALLY REALLY long time ago! I did a lot of fussy cutting and stamping on this layout.
Just a few close ups.

Lifes an Adventure
This is a photo of my oldest daughter when she was a youngster! I thought I would put the flowers in this kit to work this month. I combined them with some Tim Holtz Tattered florals and some flowers from last months kit.
The blue die cut vines are a new love from Cheery Lynn designs. The green ferns are a die cut from Heartfelt Creations. I used liquid pearls for my dots around the page edge. I also used stickle on the leaves and flourishes on the frame around the edge.

I hope you enjoyed this months reveal! Please be sure to stop by Scraps of Darkness to view this wonderful kit and see what the other designers have created this month!

Design Team Reveal Berry Bleu

Once Upon a Springtime

                                             (photography credit: Gina Coppolino)
This fabulous photo of my dd was taken by my friend Gina. I thought it was the perfect photo for these beautiful papers to compliment this awesome tag by Berry Bleu.
All of the details you see on the tag, the buttons, butterflies, flowers are all put together by Marivic and included on the tag. So many beautiful details!
I stamped the corners of the background paper with a Prima stamp and the circle with another Prima flourish stamp. Lot's of fussy cutting of the G45 papers and the vines were cut on my Cuttlebug with a Sizzix die.

Be sure to check out my "Ruffled Temptress" flower tutorial here
Stop by Berry Bleu and see what is happening there.

REVEAL DAY at Scraps of Darkness!!!!

 "Vintage Revelry"

The beautiful March kit from Scraps of Darkness is filled with the fun and fabulous Graphic 45 "Curtin Call" papers and The Paper Loft "For the Record" line. Not to mention the very intriguing embellishments. Gorgeous Prima full blooms, metal flowers, clock hands and lace. You have to go check out the site to view the other needful add ons. The romance and color add ons are to die for!!! An assortment of Moonshadow and Starburts Mists in 7 drool worthy colors and a very fun piece of Prima canvas. The Romance is a "can't live without" with the amazing Prima flowers and butterflies and that Graphic 45 doorknob is one of the most fun embellishements I have ever worked with!
I had a never ending stream of creativity with this kit. I am excited to be able to share my work with you for this month and hope you are inspired to create with this fabulous kit!

Exit Stage Left
This is a photo of my dd and friend. Silly teens that they are. I went for a theatrical looking photo to go with these papers! This is my take on Charlottes aka SuePups sketch for us this month. I love the color scheme of these papers with the creamy tan and black. I added the Graphic 45 textured cardstock in the background and made the flowers using my Poppy Sizzix die. I opted to keep my lines clean this month with the G45 because the paper is so intense.

 Style
I had so much fun playing with my photos this month. Many of you know I love to play with PSE. As much as I like to scrap for the sake of preserving memories I also like to do it just for fun. I love to play with photos and match them to my papers. This months kit was perfect for a little vintage style on my dd. I used a technique called "extraction" to dress my daughter in a vintage hat. (I wish she would pose for me in one IRL but she won't. So a girls's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. LOL ) That gorgeous Prima bloom was in our kit. I made the smaller one out a paper bag that our goodies came in. Again I kept my lines pretty clean on this layout.

If The Crown Fits

In the color add on we received SEVEN bottles of Moonshadow mist and Starburst mist. I am so in love with these products! They are just a dream to work with. The colors are gorgeous and the intensity is perfect. I love that they come as a powder and then you add the water to the bottle when you get them. We also received a Prima Mistable Canvas. I really wanted to do something different with mine rather than just using it as a backdrop for my layout. I misted it in several different colors, then use a prima stencil I had on hand. Once I had the canvas colored I decided to cut it up! I used the edges as my frame and I ran the rest through my cuttlebug using my TH Tattered floral die. The canvas goes through the die cutter like butter. The canvas flowers add so much texture to the page and look so pretty with the mists and stencils. I also stamped leaves and birds and cut them out and added to my page. Photography credit: Gina Coppolino Photography

A Walk

This is a photo of my mother and grandfather many many moons ago when she was a young lady. She was a bridesmaid in this photo. I used the gorgeous Paper Loft papers and the gossamer gold mist (my personal favorite) on the chipboard frame. We also received some gorgeous gold embossing powder and I used that on my birdcage. I dissected Mandys pin to fit the top of my cage.  I made the flowers using another sheet of the Paper Loft papers and layered them using mists and stickles.

I'm Already Gone

I loved this months kit sooo much with all the fun papers and gorgeous embellies. I have to say the most fun embellishment I worked with was this Graphic 45 doorknob. I had a hard time parting with it. I really wanted to put it on a shelf it is just so much fun to look at. However I knew right away what I was going to do with it scrap wise. I used an artists canvas and modpodged the backgound paper onto it.
Then I painted over the paper with several layers of blue and gold paint. We received some wonderful stamps in our kit and I stamped images on the background and added the peeling page look. I also did some doodles, used rub ons and a DA clock.
My daughter will be 16 this week and when I saw the doorknob the Kelly Clarkson song "I'm already gone" played over and over in my head.  I printed her photo on cardstock instead of photo paper and mod podged that too for texture and grunge.

Thank you Card

I love the beautiful and unique Kanban "Moulin Diva's" I created a card using the cardstock these came on. I used my Heartfelt Creations stamps to stamp some flowers and I embossed them with the gold powder in the kit. I also stamped the Thank you image and embossed as well. The gold center of that feathery flower is another goodie in the March kit.

I hope you enjoyed this months reveal. Be sure to visit the other DT girls to see what they did with this amazing kit. Come on over to SOD and check it out. We have a great group of ladies and lot's of fun! I am running another challenge this month and all are welcome to join in. Thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate your visits so much. xo

NEW CHALLENGE OVER AT SCRAPS OF DARKNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SKELETONS IN THE CLOSET?
(Do you dare scrap yours?)

I am hosting a very fun and innovation challenge over at SCRAPS OF DARKNESS! Each month I will be providing a prompt ( a word, a sentence or a photograph) as inspiration and you scrap whatever the word brings to mind that relates to your life. I will be hosting this each month and sending out a little RAK to the winner!
Come take a peek for more of the details on how this challenge works! It is going to be GREAT FUN to see what everyone comes up using the same starting point! OH and all are welcome to join in!!!
Here is my inspiration piece!

This months prompt is DRAMA.
This photo happened quite by accident! I was using this photo of my daughter and didn't size it in PSE correctly before I printed it. It printed just this part of her face! It was DIVINE INTERVENTION! I thought it was perfect like this especially with these Steampunk papers!!!
I did lots of masking, spritzing and stamping on here. Along with lots of fussy cutting. I have this really cool font on my computer that looks like the little Making Memories block letters. I printed all the words out on photo paper and cut them out to make my journaling.

Real life behind the page: Teenage girls = DRAMA. I have a really good daughter who doesn't give me any trouble. Thank you Lord. However, everything is high drama all the time! School, Graduation, Clothes, Friends, Texting, Computers, Facebook, Weight Gain, Driving. She tries to pull me into her panic and it can be EXHAUSTING! Will I really miss all this when she finally leaves the nest???? This is what I secretly ask myself.
