Fancy

There is a contest going on over at **Swirlydoos** called "Do it Yourself!!!" You can read all the details in the link but basically you need to create your own pattern pattern paper using resists, inks, stamps, punches etc.

In this months kit "technique add-on" we received some Pink Paislee Parisian Anthology resist papers. This was the first time I have a used a resist! I'm not well stocked on Distress Inks, so I had to go order a collection (insert evil laugh here) because I have lots of resists papers now and ya need the ink! On this one I used smooch. I used a sponge instead of the spray nozzle so I could rub in on my paper and not get a totally spotted/ misted look. The result came out  grungy and has lot's of texture!

I like to design my layouts using some interior design theories, such as, mixing shiny and dull, fiber and sparkle, pop, and add an element of surprise. I try to do something you wouldn't typically expect either with the entire layout or just one element you would not expect to be there or used in that way. So on this layout I used a very fancy piece of resist ( lace doilies...can't get much fancier than that) and I made it grungy. I also used some pse actions to give my photo a kiss of plum. The flower is also color splashed in plum as it was orginally red. ( I have a tut on how to do this in pse tutorials)
I used color palette #28 from The Color Room for this layout. I was planning on entering it for that week but didn't get to finish till now! The leaves are a combination of stamps, sizzix dies and clip art provided by Lisa aka Starsailorscrapper. I layered this layout on black cardstock for support, then did some tearing and added my punched strips to show through. I grunged up a silver doily with ink. The rest is punching and layering papers, doiles, embellies and flowers ( I took apart a gray prima flower and added the plum one on top of it.)
I appreciate your visits and always read and love your comments! x0 LiSa~~~
