COLOR SPLASH IN PSE

Color Splash

This editing is done when you would like a black and white photo but want to keep an element in the photo in color. For this tut I have chosen my daughters boots to remain in color while I turn the background black and white.

Open your photo in PSE.
Choose your quick selection tool located on the left side of your screen and choose a small brush size. You will have to play with this to get a feel for it.
Select the image that you WANT TO KEEP THE COLOR OF.  In this case I am choosing to keep the boots red.
Now go to the top of your screen and view the drop down box under the SELECT title. Choose select inverse.
Next- go to the ENHANCE title at the top of the page and choose  ADJUST COLOR then you can either choose remove color or hue/saturation. If you choose remove color just click on it. If you choose hue/saturation you move your sliders to the left and remove as much color as you want.
Once you have done this go back to the top of your screen under the SELECT button and click on deselect.

That's it! Now you just have to save it and print it.  I usually save for the web but you can choose to just save as.
